![]() ![]() Now for the 3rd, and bigger amp, I hooked it direct to the Kimball rotor. I plugged a VCR directly from RCA out to the inputs on this thing and WOW! amazing quality sound direct into a pair of Ampex bookshelf speakers that I plucked off of a discarded giant RtoR console and hooked to the two smaller channels in stereo. The mains transformer was on top with the larger output transformer, and the smaller amps transformers were inside the chassis. The two identical each had a pair of 6bq5's ( el84's), and the larger amp had 4 6bq5's. There were two identical amps and one larger. The amplifier chassis was a most beautiful design- 3 independent channels, each with a 12AX7 that served as a line level input to each. It had a 6V tube heater transformer about the size of a 6" cube. I once bought a 62' Kimball for the Kinball version of a Leslie inside, not to mention it had 80+ tubes, most of which were 12AU7's. I don't think I would mess with the spinets though. I don't know enough about Kimball's to know if one could be maintained or not. Here's one on ebay that looks pretty nice. ![]()
